Pics of Writtle College

Enjoy,

Ow to Linda: my classes start at friday :)

SW

The main building.

A flower bed in front of the east side of the main building

Harvey 1, the place where I live, my room is way up.

The englisch garden at the back of harvey building seen from the kitchen window.
For those interested, the layout of the garden is exactly like the Cathedral of Chelmsford (seen in pictures below).

And some flowers

All well

First of all many thanks to all who wish me well.

Everything here is going just fine, I'm currently sitting here at my laptop in front of the window of my room enjoying the blue sky and my view over some trees. The view on the other side of the building is more impressive, as a beautiful garden is situated at that side, but I'll have to do with this for the upcoming months.

The eating habits are weird around here, salads and sandwiches you can eat hot meals twice a day, and deserts as well. But luckily there are various kinds of to choose from.

I hope I'll be able to make some pics of the campus if the weather stays like this.

See ya,

The first pics

Here are as promised some pics. The first one I made on the boat from Hoek van Holland to Harwich. The two next ones are of Chelmsford, the cathedral and the street across the Cathedral and the last one is of the moth I found on my washing basin this morning.

Enjoy,

SW

Of on yet another journey

Well, as most of you know, I arrived the day before yesterday in the UK. Along with my parents I went shopping in Chelmsford and yesterday they dropped me of at writtle.
The people are nice, though sometimes a bit direct.
Some pics will be up soon,

Leica with native Arabian halter

Hi,

Today I made the pics of Leica with the halter, she wasn't terribly into posing and rather searched my pockets for food, but I did manage a few nice pics of her.

Enjoy,

It's not long now

Hi everyone,

Upcoming Saturday I will be leaving for England. But no worry I will post my adventures (hopefully writtle won't be boring).
Packing my stuff seems to be a bigger problem than when I went to the USA, but the pile in my bedroom is slowly rising.
Since 2 weeks I'm doing a last minute course in horsebackriding. I love it, but I'm glad I didn't learn it earlier, cause after all these years just taking care for horses has made me very experienced with horses themselves. This is something young kids don't learn when they start to ride horses. Starlight, a 25 year old Arabian horse (I'm so lucky) is teaching me how to ride, see the pic below, he is fleabitten like Leica.
Ow and I finally finished yet another native halter for Leica, a nice blue one including leadrope, I copied it mostly from the original design made by the bedouins. Since I finished it today I will be making pictures of Leica with the halter in one of the upcoming days.

See ya around,

Leica in the picture

Finally I got the chance to make some pics of Leica (she is my surrogate horse or whatever one might call it).
She was in a good mood, but very dirty to start with. Perhaps she makes herself so dirty on purpose, cause she loves being brushed.

The first one, don't mind the sway back, after all she is 32....

Followed by a nice portrait

The Arabian style chestcollar

And the awful, terrible and horrible Arabian halter.
Frankly it doesn't match the chestcollar at all, and some sizes are incorrect. So I'll have to change the halter into another better matching design that does fit.

Arabian halter set, magnum psyche style

I have been working on this arabian halter set for over 3 weeks now, and it is finally almost finished.
I made a quick sketch so you know how it is supposed to be worn by a horse.

I have been making arabian/ bedouin/ egyptian style halters for a few years now, but this is the first one that is complete with halter and breastplate (I still have to ake the leadrope).

Someone is being annoying!!!!!!!

Someone is about to have a serious headache.
That is, if I ever find out who is posting those annoying, sweet messages with the link to all sorts of rubbish, he or she will suffer.
Why is it that people need to do that? The same goes for my hotmail inbox. Everyday it is stuffed with all those ads, I don't need them, I don't even read them, who does anyway.

Can't they just get a life?

Northern Inuit in pencil

Hi,

Sometimes I can get a lot of inspiration out of a special photo. Like this one, a howling Northern Inuit. I love the way it turned out.
I scanned it, so it is somewhat different from the original one.

Cat skull

A few weeks ago I found a very nice looking cat skull next to my horse's water bucket. I boiled it for many hours and this is the result.

Good news on Sushi

Yesterday we gave her the last of the antibiotics. Her belly is now almost fully healed and so there is reason to PARTY. Doughnut is in the same mood, but discovered the hard way Sushi isn't in for mating any time soon (she is neutered any way). Doughnut now has a bloody nose and a damaged ego *G*.

Sushi wouldn't be Sushi if.....

she didn't care about being anesthetized twice in one week :/

How it got to be this way?

Well, she wouldn't be Sushi either if she didn't remove some of the stiched and was planning on removing them ALL. Which is not a good thing, if you know what I mean.
So we brought her back to the vet and they stiched her up yet again. I thought she was not going to make it, but back home she first ate as much lettace as she could and than she bit my mom very hard :/
At the vet practice they said she is a fighter *G* In more than one way for sure.
She has to get antibiotics twice a day and is getting more difficult to handle every second.
But I will not complain, I'm just glad she is so determined about staying alive.

Bad news yet again....

Unfortunately all four baby guinea pigs did not survive. Sushi was rushed to the vet Thursday morning. She was unable to deliver the little ones herself so the vet had to help. The little ones proved to be huge except for the little Yumi. Luckily Sushi is doing great now, she eats like never before and already bit me several times *G*

My mom brought all 4 babies back home, they are all perfect little creatures and it is really a pity they didn't get to live.

In order of birth there names are, Yumi, Sumo, Kuki and Suki.

Bont, You will be missed

Friday morning my best friend had to put her most beloved Shetland Pony down. After being sick for a long time and already having a damaged liver, there was no other way then to let the horse and her unborn foal go to the everlasting pastures. Where no doubt many other horses will be waiting for her. Luckily she lives on through her progency, Twinkle Star.

Best to you G

Bont, Know you will be missed.

Busy, busy and busy

Well finely I have some time to type a message without stressing. On the 27th of April we are organizing a workshop about bats and sand martins. And the 27th is soon, very soon.....

Sushi still keeps the little ones inside, or the little ones don´t want to come out. Maybe they're waiting for Easter. Easter guinea pigs would be fine by me *G*. I already thought up some names:
Sumo
Kuki
Saki/Suki (I don't know yet)
Yumi (which means beauty in Japanese)

Ow and I can't wait to see some pics of the baby Yotes that will arrive at Wolf Park the 16th.

Greetings,

Still no baby guinea pigs

Sushi looks to be about to explode, but still she hasn't given birth. I'm not worrying yet, as she is still eating and running :/ around. But she no longer looks like a pear but more like a handgranade *g*

The one who guesses the right amount of babies Sushi is carrying will win one of the babies *g*

Just joking, but for the ones who do want one........

Update on Sushi

For days we have been guessing to how many little ones Sushi is carrying. My mom is betting on 2 and I'm betting on a few more, like 99 or so *g* . She really is huge, on the picture below it doesn't even show half as well, but none the less it shows Sushi is already resembling a real sushi role.

Enjoy,

Big mama Sushi

My guinea pig Sushi is due to give birth any day soon. So I thought it would be nice to give updates on her and her little ones to be. First I'll introduce you to the happy parents.

Sushi, the mom
Doughnut, the dad

I saw them mate on the 9th of February, and since guinea pigs carry their little ones for up to about 2 months, it is almost time :)

Photo edits

Hi everyone,

I had a really busy week, but finally I have some time to post two drawings I made. I tried to put these drawings in a nice photo, I kept it fairly simple, but I think it looks nice. What do you think?

Good news

Since a few years Jessy has cataract, and so she has to go to the vet every once in a while to make sure it hasn't gotten worse. The last few times it was bad news as one eye was getting worse the other had started to develop cataract as well.

But finally yesterday the vet told us it had (momentarily) stopped.

So that was very good news indeed.

Wolfie

And while my mom was taking Jessy to the vet, I was left with two very wolf alike JR's at home. They both exclaimed the most beautiful howl. I even had to cry because it was so perfect.

Tiger

A fairly simple drawn tiger in color pencil. Made for the cover of a project paper on a design for a zoo exhibition. It was for school thus not for real, but fun to do.
I think the left eye is a bit weird, but strangely it is exactly the same as in the original photo.

Spring already ?????

For whom *G* is jealous of the snow we had here in Holland, it is gone as quickly as it arrived. Yesterday I stepped outside and realized it was spring. Birds where singing, the sky was clear and the morning air told me enough. But as is usual in Holland, today was a hell, it rained and rained and it is still raining.

I hope some people are having better weather than this.

Winter wonder land

Yesterday it snowed again, as it has been for most of the week. The south of holland got way less than the north, but none the less it was beautiful.
Here are some pics for you all to enjoy.

Red rose

Well, I drew this one a while ago. I also made a photo edit of it. The arabian stallion is Parys el Jamaal.
